Job Description
The Senior Data Engineer designs, develops, optimizes, and secures complex data architectures to ensure effective data collection, storage, and processing. They ensure the performance, quality, and security of data pipelines, enabling analysts and data scientists to efficiently use the data. They mentor junior profiles, define best practices, and collaborate with data teams to ensure effective data exploitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze impacts on existing systems
- Ability to deliver solutions tailored based on customer needs and requirements
- Contribute to the setup of various on-premise or cloud data warehouses
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and storage of large volumes of data from various sources
- Develop and maintain ELT/ETL workflows to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Manage and optimize data storage and retrieval systems, such as data warehouses and data lakes
- Implement data security and privacy measures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data
- Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing validation and verification processes, and proactively identify and resolve data quality issues
- Participate in deployment activities, from development to production
- Provide user support and training
- Supervise less senior consultants
- Collaborate with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle: architect, data engineer, business analyst, product owner, project manager, etc.
- Contribute to pre-sales activities by participating in client workshops, preparing technical proposals, and showcasing data architecture and engineering capabilities.
- Support business development efforts by identifying client needs, advising on data-driven solutions, and collaborating with sales teams to design tailored offers leveraging modern data stack technologies.
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Computer Science
- 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- Strong understanding of the data lifecycle in decision-making processes
- Solid programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
- Experience with DevOps/DataOps tools
- Experience with ADF, Glue and other similar ETL tools
- Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
- Willing to travel within UAE and Middle-East for projects
